Elysium announces a major version-up release of InfiPoints, December 2022 Update. Auto-generation of CAD models directly from laser scans, the key advantage of InfiPoints, sees intensive enhancements in this release. Users will be able to obtain 3D CAD models semi-automatically and enjoy the “3D data benefits” without exploiting their time in CAD modeling from scratch.
Behind the development of scanning devices and the growing demands for 3D data, CAE virtual simulation has been an unaffordable dream for most of the projects. In fact, actual application examples were limited to, e.g., environmental impact assessment in huge newly-built projects only. Prerequisites for CAE simulations are firstly the simulation software, and secondly the 3D CAD model that replicates real space and real objects. The latter has been the bottleneck for years because, in the conventional method, people had to survey the target to obtain the dimensions, and then create 3D models from scratch, which was time and cost consuming. Cost and lead-time reductions are the essential factors to democratize the CAE virtual simulation in the digital twin of the existing sites.
“We believe that the enhanced CAD modeling capability will contribute to the significant cost and lead-time reduction in 3D model preparation for CAE simulations,” states Tomohiko Watanabe, Manager of InfiPoints Business Development Group at Elysium. “This will assist more effective study on the construction plans for renovation and countermeasure constructions by conducting the sound effect analysis on concert halls, airflow analysis of the public space including airports and stations, and more.”
Another focus of this release is to facilitate the easy sharing of the 3D data of existing sites with related persons including non-engineers.
Added PDF export will help engineers enforce the link with other divisions, subcontractor companies, etc. 3D PDF will allow viewing and manipulation of 3D models created in InfiPoints at receivers’ end in, e.g., Acrobat Reader, a free, widely-spread PDF reader developed by Adobe.
Added Autodesk Recap (*.rcp) export will accelerate the point cloud utilization among the userbase of Autodesk Revit®, a key BIM software for architects.
FBX (*.fbx) is a format which is used to exchange 3D geometry and animation data, and is widely-spread in computer graphics field. Added FBX (*.fbx) export is expected to support the point cloud utilization in the computer graphics field in the coming metaverse era.
Furthermore, this release includes the official launch of InfiPoints Cloud. This is a cloud service which will aid InfiPoints users to process and share InfiPoints project data in the cloud environment.
