Engineering and computer science students employ the CADENAS Strategic Parts Management System for their designs
Since July 2023, the CADENAS solution for strategic parts management, PARTsolutions, has been available to the almost 3,000 students in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Osnabrück university of applied sciences. The lecturers at the largest university in Lower Saxony focus on the practical part of the education, so that the students can frequently implement their own projects.
Time saving
Until now, they had to invest a lot of time searching for components for their designs instead of being able to optimise their designs. For this reason, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Mechlinski turned to CADENAS in June 2023 to introduce PARTsolutions at his faculty. Just a few weeks later, the software was in use and has since complemented the system architecture, consisting of Siemens NX as well as Siemens Teamcenter for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
Intelligent searching
Thanks to PARTsolutions, students now have access to millions of 3D CAD, CAE and BIM models. Although the selection of components is now larger, it takes less time to find the matching parts. This is because various search methods, such as the 3D similarity search or the photo search, lead more quickly and specifically to the suitable component. Another advantage is that the parts are automatically created in the PLM system after the CAD export, including all master data.
