Vattenfall Eldistribution AB, a key player in Sweden’s power distribution network, has selected Copperleaf® Asset to support the transformation of its asset management approach. This strategic collaboration aims to enhance visibility into the health and risk of critical infrastructure assets while maximizing the value of investment and maintenance decisions through advanced analytics and optimization.
Vattenfall’s Distribution Business Area manages 15,000 km of regional network lines and 109,000 km of distribution lines, serving approximately 900,000 customers. As the largest operator of regional electricity networks in Sweden, Vattenfall is committed to ensuring a sustainable, resilient, and reliable grid for the future.
The adoption of IFS Copperleaf Asset reflects this commitment—enabling better-informed decisions aligned with environmental, reliability, and regulatory goals.
“Our solution will provide Vattenfall Distribution clear insight into the health and risk profile of its infrastructure assets—whether at the level of a single component or across the entire network” said Christina Jorgenson, Regional Sales Manager for IFS Copperleaf in the Nordics and Baltics. “With proven methodologies for assessing asset condition and risk exposure, the solution supports long-term planning and helps visualize how risks evolve over time”.
Vattenfall Distribution will be able to create the highest-value asset management strategies by comparing multiple “what-if” scenarios and conducting sensitivity analyses to determine the optimal set of asset interventions—whether to maintain, refurbish, or replace—based on data-driven insights.
“The Swedish energy system is undergoing a historic transformation, and the electricity grid plays a crucial role in enabling a fossil-free future. Partnering with IFS Copperleaf enhances our long-term analytical capabilities and provides us with the tools to take a more data-driven approach to investment decisions.”
