PlantLinker has purchased a license to the C3D Converter module to develop PlantLinker, a domestic plant design CAD solution. C3D Converter is part of C3D Toolkit, a software development kit (SDK) to create, edit, visualize, and convert geometric models.
PlantLinker and C3D Labs first met in 2024. The meeting led to testing the C3D Converter to compare it with other solutions available on the domestic market. The multi-stage tests showed that the C3D Labs product was a versatile and reliable tool that fit the task perfectly.
Today, many design companies rely on geometric models from third-party sources. For example, manufacturers provide equipment models. The overwhelming majority of such models come from mechanical engineering CADs. The vendor needed a dedicated solution to create consistent, correctly structured models. C3D Converter is the most versatile data exchange tool. It can be customized for each specific system.
The C3D Converter integration was a multi-step process:
- 1. Component capability tests. The test results were extremely positive: the tool could solve the tasks.
- 2. Basic license purchase. This is the best fit for PlantLinker, as its users and poten-tial customers extensively use SAT, STEP, and JT formats.
- 3. C# wrapper introduction. This was necessary to seamlessly integrate with the es-tablished toolset of the PlantLinker development environment.
- 4. C3D Converter integration into PlantLinker. This was a pilot operation with real-life projects.
As a result of all these stages, C3D Converter, integrated into the PlantLinker environment, can now convert and preview geometric models in the formats covered by the basic license, handle metadata, and attributes. These capabilities provide for consistent and seamless handling of imported geometry for the basic design and catalog generation phases.
