Siemens and ModuleWorks Deliver Advanced Toolpath Optimization in NX CAM

In today’s competitive manufacturing landscape, efficiency, reliability and machining performance are more critical than ever. To help CAM professionals meet these demands, Siemens and ModuleWorks are strengthening their long-standing partnership by bringing advanced physics-based toolpath technologies directly into the NX CAM environment.

The collaboration combines the power of Siemens NX CAM with ModuleWorks’ industry-leading machining technologies, enabling manufacturers to strengthen their digital thread and optimize machining processes through intelligent automation. The integration also reflects ModuleWorks’ continued commitment to supporting advanced manufacturing workflows across the wider CAM and digital manufacturing ecosystem.

Integrated ModuleWorks Solutions for NX CAM on Siemens Xcelerator

The suite of advanced ModuleWorks technologies is now available as plugins for NX CAM, which is a part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. The integration provides a seamless and accessible user experience while enabling seamless flow of digital manufacturing data across design, programming and production.

The plugins include:

  • VoluMill – Science-based roughing plugin designed to deliver faster cycle times, longer tool life and higher material removal rates across a wide range of materials.
  • VoluTurn – An automated turning plugin that minimizes the need for manual CAD programming while reducing insert wear and preventing tool over-engagement.
  • FeedControl – A universal toolpath optimization plugin that uses physics-based simulation to optimize feed rates based on material properties and machine characteristics for expert-level machining performance.
  • MDES Exporter – A plugin for automatically generating standardized tooling, fixture and part data from Siemens NX, enabling seamless integration into simulation, collision avoidance systems (CAS) and digital manufacturing workflows via MDES.

Delivering Measurable Benefits

Integrating these technologies into NX CAM helps manufacturers achieve measurable improvements in machining performance and process efficiency, including:

  • Reduced cycle times through optimized toolpaths and feed rates
  • Extended tool life by maintaining consistent cutting conditions
  • Simplified programming workflows for CAM users of all experience levels
  • Faster implementation of the digital thread across manufacturing operations
  • Enhanced data security through local installation within secure networks

A Stronger Digital Future Together

“Our collaboration with ModuleWorks reflects Siemens’ commitment to delivering an open and powerful manufacturing ecosystem through Siemens Xcelerator. By integrating advanced roughing, turning, feed-rate optimization and digital manufacturing technologies directly into NX CAM, we are enabling manufacturers to improve machining performance, enhancing programming workflows and accelerate their digital transformation journey. Together, Siemens and ModuleWorks continue to provide innovative solutions that help customers achieve greater productivity and manufacturing excellence.”
Corsin Buerer, Director Part Manufacturing Products and Partner Eco System

“For years, Siemens and ModuleWorks have worked side by side to deliver cutting-edge CAM technologies to manufacturers worldwide. With this new level of integration, users gain an end-to-end solution for process optimization, from high-performance roughing and turning to sophisticated feed rate control, all within the native NX CAM workflow.”
Dr. Yavuz Murtezaoglu, Founder & CEO of ModuleWorks

This collaboration represents another step in ModuleWorks’ ongoing strategy of working closely with leading industry partners to deliver advanced machining technologies and support increasingly connected manufacturing environments.
