MULTIVAC selects Siemens Xcelerator to advance digital transformation

Siemens announced that MULTIVAC, one of the leading providers of processing and packaging solutions for food, medical devices and pharmaceuticals, has selected Siemens’ Teamcenter® software as its strategic PLM backbone to manage product data, connect engineering disciplines with downstream manufacturing environments across the company and support the digital transformation of its product development and lifecycle management processes.

By introducing Siemens’ Teamcenter from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of industry software as its digital thread backbone, MULTIVAC aims to further digitalize and integrate its product development processes. The new digital thread backbone improves transparency, collaboration and efficiency across engineering teams while helping the company manage increasing product complexity throughout the entire product lifecycle.

“With Teamcenter, we are improving user efficiency and collaboration, while preparing for the future by making our data-driven processes fit for AI-enabled engineering and analytics,” said Dr Christian Lau, chief technical officer and group president, MULTIVAC. “By establishing a consistent digital thread backbone, we are creating the foundation for integrated product development processes and positioning our engineering organization to support future digitalization initiatives.”

The decision reflects MULTIVAC’s focus on establishing a consistent digital thread from product development into manufacturing. MULTIVAC already uses Siemens solutions such as Designcenter Manufacturing and Teamcenter Manufacturing Resource Library for tool management in production. By adopting Teamcenter as its central PLM backbone, the company can better connect engineering data with manufacturing processes, supporting a more integrated and digitalized product development approach.

MULTIVAC is also leveraging Siemens solutions to manage their CNC shopfloor operations, including tool management and, in the future, NC program handling as well. By integrating these capabilities within its broader digital backbone, the company benefits from improved consistency of manufacturing data, reduced errors and setup times, and enhanced operational efficiency. This end-to-end connectivity between engineering and production enables greater transparency and supports more agile, high quality manufacturing processes.

“Industrial machinery manufacturers are under growing pressure to manage complexity, innovate faster and connect engineering with manufacturing,” said Klaus Löckel, managing director, DACH region, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “This collaboration demonstrates how a scalable PLM platform can help companies establish a strong digital backbone and support long-term digital transformation initiatives.”
