Geometric Ltd announced release of version 4.1 of its automated design for manufacturability solution, DFMPro for NX software. The latest version delivers many new customer-driven enhancements for users of NX, a leading integrated 3D computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE) software, developed by Siemens’ PLM software business.
The latest version of DFMPro, significantly speeds up the design review time with its powerful new Microsoft Excel based reporting feature. Users can easily create, share and communicate DFM analysis reports in Microsoft Excel format with internal teams and external manufacturing suppliers located globally.
Additionally users designing plastic parts will get better control for moldability of a part with the newly added ‘Mold Wall Classification’ feature, which segregates between the core and cavity mold faces.
The solution also helps improve design and manufacturing collaboration, which is becoming a top priority for organizations today. Design reviews are conducted with teams on different aspects such as functionality, manufacturability, serviceability and cost, to solicit their critical input during early design stages. However, with the changing engineering landscape and cross-disciplinary teams scattered across the globe, design reviews can be highly time-consuming, and error-prone. DFMPro captures the rules for these multi-disciplinary aspects, thus automating the basic review.
