Additive Manufacturing for Aerospace Advanced by Altair, RUAG and Morf3D

Altair, RUAG and Morf3D have recently entered a non-exclusive partnership for cooperation in advancing additive manufacturing (AM) for Aerospace applications.  The partnership will address the full additive manufacturing process including design, analysis, build, test and certification. The partnership aims to offer a start-to-finish service primarily to the Aerospace industry for AM including space, propulsion, aircraft interior, and airframe applications. Other application areas will be pursued as opportunities present themselves.

While working together jointly on publications, training, research, and technical papers, etc., to facilitate this cooperative effort, Altair will lead the provision of solidThinking Inspire™ software for design and analysis, Morf3d will lead program management, part production, R&D and associated quality control and RUAG will take the lead on design, analysis, documentation, testing and certification. The team will use the AM facility Morf3D's Innovation Center which includes various DMLS systems and the test facilities at Ruag.

"We are excited to participate with Ruag and Morf3d on advancing the AM process for Aerospace applications," said Dr. Robert Yancey, VP of Aerospace at Altair Engineering.  "There is clearly a need for resources to help companies navigate the challenges of using AM and this partnership will have all of the necessary expertise and technology to help companies be successful with AM."

"The partnership between Altair, Morf3D and RUAG Space puts together the perfect ecosystem to revolutionize the way space components are engineered, produced and qualified," said Franck Mouriaux, General Manager Structures at RUAG SCHWEIZ AG. "This breakthrough is absolutely mandatory for us to face the challenges of the new space industry and remain competitive."

"We are thrilled to partner with Altair and RUAG to offer the Aerospace industry a unique multi-disciplinary value chain that is able to exploit new possibilities brought on by Additive Design and Additive Manufacturing," said Ivan J. Madera, Chief Executive Officer, Morf3D.
