solidThinking, a wholly owned subsidiary of Altair, has recently introduced CONVERGE, a new global conference series targeting product creators such as industrial designers, design engineers, and architects. During its two day program, the European event from September 20-21, 2016 in Essen, Germany will cover design and development, highlights of innovative products, the use of cutting edge technology, address general challenges in the product creation process, and present advanced solutions and processes.
The presentation program for Europe, is filled with high level talks by industry experts and designers such as: Il Hoon Roh, an internationally renowned artist and architect, Rafa Corell, CEO at Indigraf, Salome Galjaard from Arup, Franck Mouriaux from RUAG Space, Joachim Zettler from Airbus APWorks, Prof. Peter Zec, Initiator and CEO Red Dot Design Museum as well as architectural experts such as Peter Reuter from the Sanaa-Building.
The program is complemented by several master classes, product demonstrations and an exhibition area. During the master classes, given by design and engineering experts, attendees can learn more about how to design innovative, appealingly shaped and functional products, how to address the challenges of today's industrial design market, tools that enable a free design process, inspired by nature, and strategies for how to design the great products of today and tomorrow.
In addition solidThinking will host a two week design exhibition at the Red Dot Design Museum, opening on September 20th. The exhibition will showcase design examples of customers and conference presenters on 150 m² at the main level of the museum, where also the evening event of the conference will take place.
"CONVERGE is different from other design conferences the industry offers", said Dr. Lars Pursche, European Partner Director at solidThinking. "With our lineup of international experts and presenters from various industries we will be discussing product creation in all of its facets and cover topics that go beyond design. It's not only about designing a product, it's about converging design and technology to create truly innovative products, shorten design cycles, and the improvement of design processes. Converge will inspire product creators to think out of the box and to break new ground."
The European edition of the series will take place at the Sanaa-Building located on the "Zeche Zollverein" area in Essen, Germany from Sept. 20-21, 2016. The Sanaa Building, an architectural masterpiece with a revolutionary energy system, located at Zeche Zollverein, a World Heritage Site, built on the grounds of the former largest and most productive coal mine in Europe, is a perfect fit for the audience since it offers a truly inspiring environment.
