BigLever Software, a leader in the Product Line Engineering (PLE) field, today announced that the company's CEO, Dr. Charles Krueger, and vice president of customer success, Dr. Paul Clements, will spotlight modern PLE practices and successes at the 26th annual International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Symposium, taking place at the Edinburgh International Convention Centre, Edinburgh, Scotland, July 18-21, 2016.
INCOSE has long been a premier driving force behind maturing the discipline of systems engineering. In recent years, INCOSE's leadership has acknowledged the growing importance of PLE in the systems engineering community, naming PLE one of the five most important new topics of interest. With more than 100 members and growing, the INCOSE PLE International Working Group (PLE IWG) brings PLE education and activities to the community.
As co-chair of the PLE IWG, Krueger will provide insight at the event regarding the feature-based PLE approaches that are enabling companies across a spectrum of industries to achieve competitive advantage. "This is a watershed moment for PLE," said Krueger. "The emergence and industry acceptance of modern PLE approaches mark a notable evolution for the field. These approaches are significant because they provide a holistic solution that encompasses technology, methodology, and organizational change, all working together to lead to PLE success. At INCOSE, we will explore the underpinning of modern PLE — a unified, automated approach for feature-based variant management that extends across the full lifecycle."
This year's International Symposium includes a selection of PLE-themed events and presentations. A PLE Networking Dinner will be held the evening of July 18, and a dedicated PLE track on July 19 will feature a variety of papers and a roundtable regarding PLE challenges and opportunities. Krueger and Clements will play an instrumental role in these PLE activities, and join executives from Lockheed Martin and IBM to present the following sessions:
