ZWCAD Design announced that U-SMD Co., Ltd., a manufacturer and distributor of the switchboard enclosure in Thailand, has selected ZWCAD+ to improve efficiency of product development. Established in 1995, U-SMD is one of the first switchboard enclosure manufacturers to have obtained the ISO 9002 certification in Thailand. They have now fully applied CAD/CAM software to their product design for computerized production. With more than 15 years experience in switchboards design and assembly, their production capacity has reached 3000 cubic tons/year.
The Need
U-SMD is among the first to introduce CAD/CAM technology in enclosure production in Thailand. They went through a period of high growth, but in recent years they have realized that their existing CAD software is no longer keeping up with their business needs. Their current CAD software is too slow, and will sometimes close suddenly before saving. Furthermore, their current CAD is not compatible with the file format generated by the higher version, so they have to rely on third-party tools to open and save as a lower version. As a result, U-SMD is constantly looking for new CAD software to support higher design requirements.
The Solution
Introduced by one of their customers, U-SMD further researched ZWCAD+ and became interested. ZWCAD+’s new memory optimization technology enables faster and smoother large file operations. With its drawing recovery feature, engineers don’t need to worry about data loss when something unexpected happens to the computers. The multiple version and format support eliminates the need for time-consuming data conversion, thereby streamlining project workflows and reducing the potential for data corruption. “We have never thought that we could open and run files over 100MB in such a short time.” said Mr. Tirawat Makead, IT Officer of U-SMD. “The interface is so similar that our engineers received ZWCAD+ on day one and finished their switchboard enclosure design on day two.”
Another addition that is particularly beneficial to U-SMD is the advanced features, such as Smart series, that help get the job done with less effort and time. “Using SmartVoice for onsite project reviews brings a whole new level of efficiency. Our engineers can go to the plant with only their tablets, and make comments in no time. It’s really a very convenient method of annotation.” Mr. Tirawat Makead added.
