OpenText Receives Public Sector Certification for Governance & Archiving for Microsoft Office 365

OpenText™ today announced that that OpenText Application Governance & Archiving for Microsoft SharePoint as applied to the SharePoint Online service in Microsoft Office 365 has received DoD 5015.02 baseline compliance certification. OpenText is the first to receive this certification for SharePoint Online and is one of three companies with all three certifications in records management for DoD 5015.02 by the Department of Defense (Baseline, Classified and Freedom of Information & Privacy Act).

The Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.02-STD, the Electronic Records Management Software Applications Design Criteria Standard, defines the requirements for the management of records within the Department of Defense and has been endorsed by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) for use by all Federal Agencies. SharePoint content presents a challenge for public sector agencies to meet these guidelines set forth by the DoD. With this certification, OpenText offers agencies a comprehensive, enterprise-wide information governance, compliance and records management solution that satisfies the requirements.

“Being among only a small group of companies certified for records management for all three certifications of DoD 5015.02 underlines our commitment to the public sector,” said Adam Howatson, chief marketing officer at OpenText. “Information Governance and Records Management capabilities are pervasive in all OpenText solutions, and this certification only serves to strengthen our position as a leader in information governance and records management. With this certification, OpenText is further equipped to help customers handle the unique specifications and requirements of the government sector in complying with information management.”

OpenText Application Governance & Archiving for Microsoft SharePoint provides integrated, end-to-end management of SharePoint sites, lists and documents across an entire enterprise. The solution enables organizations to enhance SharePoint management and enforce broader compliance and archiving policies, open access to all enterprise content, and lower ongoing administration and storage costs. Designed to promote personal and process productivity, OpenText Application Governance & Archiving for Microsoft SharePoint provides complete lifecycle management and control for SharePoint content through the transparent classification and management of information to support privacy, security and discovery.

The DoD 5015.02 certification will also support OpenText partner CGI’s Records Management as a Service (RMaaS) offering, which combines the OpenText Content Suite and the Microsoft Azure Government Cloud with CGI’s extensive consulting expertise and implementation services. This complete records management solution can be rapidly deployed to help address the Presidential Managing Government Records directive (Office of Management and Budget Memorandum M-12-18).

“CGI and OpenText have successfully collaborated on over 70 projects,” said Rich Bissonette, CGI Federal vice president for Emerging Technologies. “Together, we have strong experience in delivering solutions that help our customers meet regulatory requirements. As agencies implement federal initiatives around enhanced recordkeeping transparency, efficiency, and accountability, RMaaS will also support the federal cloud-first and mobile first strategies and enabling mobile technologies.”

“By 2019 all government records need to be available electronically, ensuring they are both auditable, retrievable and searchable,” said Greg Myers, vice president, Federal Group at Microsoft Corp. “We are pleased that OpenText and CGI continue to make their expertise available to help Federal Government agencies meet the Managing Government Records Directive.”

OpenText Application Governance & Archiving for Microsoft SharePoint is part of OpenText’s EIM platform, enabling organizations to discover and manage information to spur growth and innovation and decrease time to competitive advantage. The platform consists of comprehensive and integrated product solutions including Content Suite, Process Suite, Experience Suite, Analytics Suite, Discovery Suite and Business Network. OpenText’s EIM solutions are available for deployment on-premises, in the cloud and in hybrid deployments.
