GRAPHISOFT announced today that it has successfully completed the buildingSMART alliance January 2014 Challenge in the COBie Design and Construction Documents Category. With zero errors, ArchiCAD 17 fulfilled 100% of the COBie requirements.
In short, ArchiCAD produces COBie data that matches the information found in the equivalent design drawings and schedules. Based on the quality control report, no format errors were found. ArchiCAD also correctly exported the data as required by the COBie Challenge. This means that when users receive a COBie (IFC) file exported from ArchiCAD, they will not have to spend any time correcting it. Support for COBie is important in the US as well as in the UK and all other English-speaking countries.
Prior to this perfect score, in September, 2013, ArchiCAD was the first architectural software to win certification for IFC 2x3 Coordination View version 2.0 import and export. Based on these two achievements, GRAPHISOFT has again proven that ArchiCAD is fully committed to supporting the Coordination View and Basic FM Handover View (required by COBie) – the two most important IFC standards (so-called Model View Definitions) for OPEN BIM-based data exchange.
