The new versions of modeFRONTIER and VOLTA were showcased at the 5th ESTECO NA Users’ Meeting in Detroit on Tuesday in front of more than one hundred experts from some of the world’s most innovative companies.
The latest upgrades bring a new approach to using algorithms, a smarter interaction between the two platforms and enhanced data management features, among other improvements.
The users of modeFRONTIER can now choose among different modalities for running an algorithm - Manual, Self-initializing or Autonomous. Enhancing the traditional manual run, a handful of ESTECO algorithms are now available in self-initializing mode: the user only needs to set the number of evaluations.
The current release also introduces the new, Autonomous mode for pilOPT, the first algorithm to come with a real one-click to run option. The new pilOPT performance is faster, more accurate, and it uses less computational resources both in self-initializing and in autonomous mode.
"pilOPT algorithm in autonomous mode is not only conceptually revolutionary but really effective in seeking optimum solutions while minimizing the amount of iterations required”, said Matteo Nicolich, ESTECO Product Manager.
The ESTECO enterprise solution, VOLTA, now comes with the extended tiered licensing scheme. The companies can now choose between Full User – to exploit the full capacity of the system, Light User - to access all project updates in realtime, and the newly introduced Simulation User - to run the processes created by domain experts.
Significant improvements were made also in terms of data management. Organizing large amounts of data became even more effective in VOLTA 2.2 thanks to the newly introduced metadata templates and the Advanced Search feature.
“VOLTA is becoming more and more powerful in storing and organizing any kind of simulation related data. Within VOLTA data management module, companies can now store all their simulation models and create so-called 'model identity cards' based on custom metadata to perfectly fit their specific needs, which makes it very easy to quickly find and collect the right information”, Nicolich added.
In terms of interaction with third party applications, ESTECO Technology continues growing its already extensive list of direct integrations: modeFRONTIER can now seamlessly integrate with RomaxDESIGNER, the design software for mechanical and electromechanical drivelines, and SC/Tetra, a general purpose thermo-fluid simulation software. As for VOLTA, it now supports Oracle Database and MariaDB database servers.
