Altair Named Official Simulation-Driven Design Ally of CWIEME Berlin 2018

Altair Engineering, Inc. is pleased to announce that it will support CWIEME Berlin, taking place from June 19-21, 2018 as the event’s official Simulation-Driven Design Ally. Under the agreement, Altair will contribute to the event with its expertise in electromagnetic, thermal and structural simulation, simulation-driven design, and innovative product development. Altair will host a half day event "ATCx - Strategic Change of Design Paradigms in Electric Machinery Development", taking place in the CWIEME Central Theatre at the Messe Berlin on June 20th at 10 am. With a focus on electric motor and power generation equipment design, Altair will also contribute with educational and joint public relation activities prior to, during, and after the event and will present its solutions on the tradeshow floor.

“We are happy to work with Altair to provide a strong focus on Simulation-Driven Design during CWIEME Berlin’s conference program,” said Chloe Theobald, Senior Content Manager, CWIEME. “With Altair as one of the leading companies supporting the digital transformation in this area, joining forces with them to deliver a wide range of activities as part of the CWIEME Berlin content program is the perfect way to address the simulation needs of highly-specialized engineers and procurement professionals”.

HyperWorks®, Altair’s simulation suite, includes a leading software for low frequency electromagnetic and thermal simulations, Flux™, offering an efficient platform for electrical engineering and low frequency EM simulation. Flux allows users to design, evaluate, and optimize machines from standard or customized parts, as well as to intuitively add windings and materials to run a selection of tests and compare machine capacity. Open and intuitive, Flux can be easily included in the design workflow to deliver reliable analysis results. It can be coupled with the best available 3D analysis software to consider multiphysics, or with system level simulation tools to design control strategies. Also available within the HyperWorks suite is FluxMotor™, an easy-to-use and efficient dedicated pre-design tool, targeting designers from all sectors related to the electric motors field. The HyperWorks suite furthermore enables engineers to optimize the magnet weight thanks to its structural and multidisciplinary optimization capabilities, and it allows them to perform NVH, structural, and thermal analyses. In addition to providing a simulation platform for simulation-driven design, Altair also offers multi-disciplinary product development consultancy and engineering services.

“Electric machines have made significant performance gains within the last few years, and the overall complexity of electronic and mechatronic systems has increased tremendously. To include all needed functionality and meet customer’s expectations as well as regulatory requirements the use of simulation methods has become mandatory,” said Vincent Leconte, director of business development EM solutions at Altair. “Tools such as Flux and multidisciplinary design approaches help to design innovative products and optimize their performance regarding efficiency, weight, noise, and other attributes of devices such as electric motors or power transformers. We are happy to present our methods and tools to the CWIEME audience as the event's official Simulation-Driven Design Ally.”
