Distribution of 2017 PLM Revenue by Market Sector
While the global economy has limped along since the slump in 2009, the PLM economy, as measured in our PLM market analysis, has continued to grow. In calendar year 2017, the PLM market grew to $43.7 billion overall, 7.6% growth in U.S. dollars over 2016. “The PLM market, and most segments, saw solid growth in 2017,” according to Mr. Stan Przybylinski, CIMdata’s Vice President. “Simulation and Analysis (S&A) continued its run of strong growth, and the Systems Integrator/Reseller/Value-Added Reseller segment was up double digits, much higher than our forecast, led by Accenture. We expect the move toward smart, connected products to continue growth in S&A, software development tools, and electronic design automation (EDA). It is also good to see the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) segment growing, led by Autodesk, who is almost through their transition from perpetual to subscription-based licensing.”
