Presentation will show how a multi-disciplinary team was able to succeed in maturing the systems under their design control using a Model-Based Systems Engineering approach.
ANN ARBOR, Michigan, 21 May 2014—CIMdata, Inc., the leading global PLM strategic management consulting and research firm announces that Matthew Loew, Technical Director at Maverick Innovation Lab, will make a presentation at CIMdata’s upcoming Systems Engineering workshop in Cincinnati on June 24th.
Mr. Loew’s presentation, “The Critical Role of MBSE in Getting from Idea to "Show Me it Works" - Fast!,” will share how the use of a Model-Based and collaborative approach was key to realizing success on an aggressive systems engineering development project. The presentation will offer workshop attendees an overview of the approach taken to develop the hydraulics and control systems for an innovative automated drilling rig machine. Prior efforts had started without system-level models being developed, critical customer requirements were not captured well, and machine performance could not be simulated or visualized. While it was understood that a systems engineering approach was critical to ensuring that the requirements could be met, a traditional, document-based approach to systems engineering was not going to be useful or accepted by the team. By using a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach and having a multi-disciplinary team collaborating with a focus on addressing the system-level requirements, the team succeeded in maturing the systems under their design control.
CIMdata’s Systems Engineering workshop is a must-attend event for industrial organizations and solution providers involved with systems engineering. It provides independent education and a collaborative networking environment where ideas, trends, experiences, and relationships critical to systems engineering germinate and take root. Attendees should expect to gain a solid understanding of current best practices and of the work that CIMdata’s Systems Engineering Knowledge Council is undertaking.
