BAE Systems’ Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle Reliability Leader & Autonomous Vehicle Technology Consultant, James Wasiloff, to Keynote at CIMdata’s PLM Road Map™ for the Global Automotive Industry

Presentation will consider the impact of autonomous vehicle technology and ride sharing on design for reliability.

ANN ARBOR, Michigan, 30 August 2016—CIMdata, Inc., the leading global PLM strategic management consulting and research firm, is pleased to announce that James Wasiloff, Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle Reliability Leader and Autonomous Vehicle Technology Consultant at BAE Systems, will make a keynote presentation at PLM Road Map™ for the Global Automotive Industry. This one-day event will be held on 3 November at the Inn at St. John’s, Plymouth, Michigan.

The presentation, “The Impact of Autonomous Vehicle Technology and Ride Sharing on Customer Usage and Design for Reliability,” will take a look at the biggest challenge envisioned from the paradigm shift associated with contemporary ride sharing scenarios and the introduction of autonomous vehicle technology—the 24/7 vehicle usage profile.

Current vehicle usage cycles are very low, 5% or less. However, within the context of a fully mature autonomous vehicle environment involving structured car sharing, the daily usage rate could grow to 95% or more. This increase in use will have an impact on vehicle system life, and will have a significant degradation effect. This presentation will explore this hypothesis.

James Wasiloff has significant experience in vehicle reliability and continuous process improvement, from armored vehicles to the automotive sector. He currently holds the position of Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle Reliability Leader at BAE Systems. In this role, he leads the AMPV Reliability Engineering program and serves as a BAE Systems consultant on Lean Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma, and Autonomous Vehicle Technology.

PLM Road Map 2016 for the Global Automotive Industry is the must-attend event for automotive industry executives (OEMs and suppliers) and PLM practitioners—providing independent education and a collaborative networking environment where ideas, trends, experiences, and relationships critical to the automotive industry germinate and take root. The theme for this year’s event is “The Changing Face of PLM in the Automotive Industry.”
