CORTIME is proud to introduce SolidWorks embedded Multi-Study Optimization including Flow simulation support in the CORTIME software. CORTIME will be exhibited at SolidWorks World 2019 in Dallas, TX from Feb 10-13, 2019, in booth 228. CORTIME helps engineers explore optimal designs by automating their design evaluation process and exploring design options based on performance goals and constraints. An example could be reducing the mass, while not compromising the durability of a product. CORTIME utilizes advanced parametric optimization, sensitivity analysis, and design study visualization to enable intelligent automated exploration of the potential design options. One new advancement, now available in the CORTIME Software, is the ability to perform Multi-Study Optimizations within SolidWorks supporting multiple simulation solutions including Flow simulation. An example video shows a Multi-Study Optimization of a billboard using SolidWorks Flow and Static Simulation. "There is a huge potential in automating your design exploration. However, for our clients who combine

Optomec announced that it has acquired Huffman, the established leader in supplying 3D metal printing systems for additive repair of gas turbine components in the energy and aviation markets. Huffman’s equipment and software are in production at virtually all major manufacturers of aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines, who use its metal deposition capabilities to restore worn or damaged components at substantially lower cost than newly-made spare parts. At a strategic level, the acquisition combines Optomec’s broad horizontal market reach, across a wide range of industries and hundreds of customers, with Huffman’s deep penetration in the gas turbine market. The synergies extend to complementary product portfolios and technical expertise, which together sets the stage for accelerated growth in both businesses. “Optomec and Huffman joining forces is exciting news in the additive manufacturing space,” said Christopher E. Thompson, general manager product service, GE Power. “Having used products from both companies, I

IronCAD has officially released its 20th Anniversary Edition (IronCAD Design Collaboration Suite 2019), which continues to strengthen its performance with the large assembly designs and workflows common among machinery manufactures. This new release extends IronCAD’s Shrinkwrap capability to simplify imported and native models and gives users the ability to dynamically load the simplified or full versions based on their preference. Typically, a design team receives files from their partners that they need to leverage in their design. Using the Shrinkwrap tools on imported data to remove unnecessary geometry can drastically reduce the overall design file size and improve graphical and process performance during operations such as during saving and loading, which aids in shortening the design cycle. Extending this further, IronCAD users have the flexibility to load either the simplified or the full design components in their working file. Using the simplified version allows designers to focus on the design tasks
