Cutting tool and tooling systems provider Sandvik Coromant, Mississauga, Ont., is continuing its support of Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Innovative Manufacturing program at its Regina campus. The Innovative Manufacturing program, which opened in September 2017, is a two-year diploma program designed to provide students with manufacturing knowledge that includes mechanical and CAD/CAM engineering technologies, welding and machining disciplines, project management, industrial design, and quality control/quality assurance strategies. Meta Company, a pioneer in the augmented reality (AR) field, announced today that it will be the first company to offer 3D CAD viewing capabilities in AR integrated with Dassault Systèmes’ SOLIDWORKS applications. Renesas Electronics Corporation today reported financial results for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2017 (October 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017) and financial results for the year ended December 31, 2017 (January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017).  “We have been continuously improving our gross and operating margins by pursuing sales growth and cost efficiency,” said Bunsei Kure, Representative Director, President and CEO, Renesas Electronics Corporation. “Our fourth quarter non-GAAP semiconductor sales increased by 28.0% year on year, driven by increased sales mainly in the automotive and industrial businesses, in addition to the integration of Intersil. Today, AVEVA acquired the intellectual property rights to the engineering design database and design productivity software known as EDD and PDMSi, developed by Shell International Exploration and Production Inc., a member of the Royal Dutch Shell plc group. The EDD solution tool has been developed by Shell to improve project efficiency by automating design processes, that would lead to time and cost savings.
