Luxion, maker of KeyShot®, the first real-time ray-tracing and global illumination program for 3D rendering and animation, today announced Motion Study support in a new release of KeyShot for SOLIDWORKS. Designers and engineers depend on their ability to create visuals that communicate their product and how it works. KeyShot makes this process incredibly fast with drag and drop material, light and camera setup in an interface that takes minutes to learn. Now, with the KeyShot for SOLIDWORKS add-in, SOLIDWORKS users are able to turn their assembly simulations into beautiful animations with the new support for Motion Studies. Through the add-in, users are able to import their model with all assembly hierarchy, appearance data and Motion Study data maintained, then quickly apply materials and lighting, or take their motion further with KeyShot’s powerful camera and part animation capabilities. Whether a rendering or animation is needed in minutes or advanced production visuals

Announcing SIMSOLID Cloud

SIMSOLID Corporation is proud to announce the general availability of SIMSOLID Cloud. SIMSOLID continues to set the standard for rapid simulation-driven design. Its innovative core technology eliminates geometry simplification and meshing, the two most time-consuming and expertise-extensive tasks done in traditional FEA. Moreover, SIMSOLID can analyze complex parts and large assemblies not practical with traditional FEA and provides performance feedback in seconds to minutes. SIMSOLID Cloud is an all new browser-based structural analysis application. Available in the Onshape App Store, it uses Onshape’s single sign-on and runs completely within an Onshape Document tab. With SIMSOLID Cloud, you never have to leave the familiar Onshape environment. All modeling, analysis and results visualization are completely embedded. SIMSOLID Cloud offers structural static and modal vibration analyses. It comes with an integrated material properties library. Both individual parts and assemblies can be analyzed and parts can be either mesh or CAD solids based.   SIMSOLID

NEC Corporation today announced the development of an adaptive network control technology that allows automobiles to share information about their surroundings in real-time, even in unstable communication environments featuring numerous vehicles and communication terminals. In recent years, expectations have been growing for the introduction of self-driving automobiles, automated guided vehicles (AGV) at factories and drones for deliveries. However, in order to avoid collisions and ensure the safety of self-driving vehicles, it is necessary for vehicles to share information about their surroundings in real-time through mobile networks. In terms of self-driving automobiles, guidelines established by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) require that at least 95% of communications reach their destination within 100 milliseconds. In a mobile network, however, as the number of communication terminals that are connected to a radio base station increases, the communication delay for each terminal also increases. Moreover, communication delays may differ from terminal to

SolidCAM UK experienced a massive boost to its business when it moved to its new Barnsley offices in 2012 and it anticipates another growth spurt when it opens its Barnsley Technology Centre. Gordon Drysdale, Managing Director says, “We ran very successful monthly seminars at our Technology Centre near Milton Keynes supported by ROMI and tooling and workholding suppliers. These seminars enabled engineers to see the whole manufacturing process from design through to the manufacture of the finished part. We outgrew that location. We are now moving the Technology Centre to Barnsley which will bring us together in one location so that customers can see our full range of services and meet all the SolidCAM UK team in a new and much bigger environment.”  Business has doubled since the move to the new Barnsley office and it is anticipated that the Technology Centre will result in a further 50% growth in
