This presentation will discuss the need for companies to rethink their PLM solution strategy before they implement enterprise business platforms.
ANN ARBOR, Michigan, 11 September 2019—CIMdata, Inc., the leading global PLM strategic management consulting and research firm, announces that its President & CEO, Peter Bilello, will make a keynote presentation at the Global Product Data Interoperability Summit 2019 (GPDIS) entitled, “Emerging Technologies & the Future of PLM Platforms.” GPDIS will take place at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak, Phoenix, Arizona, from 16-19 September. Mr. Bilello’s presentation will take place on Tuesday, 17 September.
The development and complete lifecycle management of complex, smart-connected products demand open and modular digital platforms that define and manage an organization’s various model-based constructs—an organization’s complete and changing set of product-related digital assets. These end-to-end digital platforms must be easily extended and scaled as business requirements evolve and new PLM-enabling technologies become available. The shift towards enabling robust and resilient business platforms requires a fundamental change. Industrial companies wishing to implement enterprise business platforms must rethink their PLM solution strategy, and how they identify, assess, and deploy enabling solutions. They must also identify and adhere to standards and the openness of interfaces that allow their chosen solutions to be adaptable, maintainable, extensible, scalable, compatible, stable, and reliable over multiple upgrade cycles. This presentation will describe end-to-end digital platforms, what characteristics best describe a future-proof digital platform, and what emerging technologies should be on your radar as a PLM professional.
Mr. Bilello has more than 26 years of experience in the development of business-enabling IT solutions for research, engineering, and manufacturing organizations worldwide. He has participated in PLM analysis, selection, implementation, and training; CAD/CAM/CAE/CIM implementation and management; synchronous and lean manufacturing consulting; software engineering; and general data management strategy development and support. He has authored numerous papers and research reports on PLM and related topics, and his articles, commentaries, and perspectives have appeared in publications throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
