Boeing’s Jeff Plant will discuss strategies for influencing standards for data storage and exchange.
Ann Arbor, Michigan, 24 September 2015—CIMdata, Inc., the leading global PLM strategic management consulting and research firm and Longview Advisors, Inc., organizer of 3D CIC, announce that Jeff Plant, Chief Process Architect & Director of Business Capabilities at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, will make a keynote presentation at PLM Road Map™ for the Aerospace & Defense Industry featuring 3D CIC. This two-day event will be held October 28-29 at The Westfields Marriott – Washington, Dulles.
All major PLM software providers offer commercial capability for conversion of their native format files into standard formats. Unfortunately, these conversions are neither complete nor consistent, nor do they address advanced CAD features. In his keynote address, Influencing Standards for Data Storage and Exchange, Plant will discuss strategies to influence future progress in closing the gap between native and standard formats. A critical prerequisite is knowing where to place the lever. Boeing has undertaken considerable research into the status and potential of relevant standards such as STEP for PLM information storage and exchange and JT and 3DPDF for real time collaboration and data exchange. The presentation will share how Boeing is partnering and collaborating with others to collectively influence an informed decision and to press for timely adoption within the industry.
As the Chief Process Architect and Director of Business Capabilities at Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Jeff Plant’s responsibilities include the technical integration of BCA functional processes, architecture of future state, and the prioritization of BCA information technology investment. Jeff’s career at Boeing has spanned over 25-years progressing from the role of manufacturing engineer on the B2 and 747/767 to his current executive leadership position.
PLM Road Map 2015 for the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) Industry featuring 3D CIC is the must-attend event for A&D industry executives and PLM practitioners globally—providing independent education and a collaborative networking environment where ideas, trends, experiences, and relationships critical to the A&D industry germinate and take root.
